GDT on Crafting by Designs for 10/30

Even though it was short notice, I was thrilled when Sandi from Crafting by Designs e-mailed me and asked me to be the guest designer for October 30 on Crafting by Designs.  I have entered their challenges before and was even lucky enough to be a winner once.

Squigglefly provided the digi stamp "The Beauty of Pine" for the challenge.  I printed it out and colored it with Copic markers.  I added some Stickles to the pinecones and bling from Want2Scrap around the edge.  I then cut it with Spellbinders A-2 Fancy Ribbon Threader die.  I colored the white ribbon with the same color I used for the needles.  I was surprised that the irridescent threads still shine after coloring it with the markers.  I used Bo Bunny Rejoice Holly from their Rejoice collection for the bottom layer and Coredinations for the next layer.  The die cut was done on GP110.

The Outlawz October 30

I just love this color combination.  I lends into fall and Thanksgiving so nicely.  I used Recollections orange and brown cardstock and a piece of very fall paper from an ancient Kodak paper collection from my scrap stash. I embossed the brown with the tree folder from Sizzix.  For the pumpkin twist, I stamped a Verve pumpkin and colored it with Copics.  The ribbon, leaf brad and confetti leaves are from Michaels.  The sentiment is stamped with a saying from the same Verve set onto a die cut tag from SU.

Crafting by Designs - A Year in Cards

Since Berni was the guest designer for this challenge, I decided to give it a try.  I chose papers from a kit that I bought about 2 years ago when I was in a kit club and have never used.  I did this at the weekend crop at SMS and neglected to take all of the Spellbinder dies I wanted to use.  The dark blue die cut was done with the Spellbinders but I had to fussy cut the white.

It's Scarey - The Outlawz 10-23

It's almost Halloween.  So it's time for something scarey.  I am terrified of spiders.  So, this is about as scarey as I could think of.  This is for The Outlawz Color Sketch for this week.

I used Recollections black for the card base and red for the first layer.  I embossed the red with the Cuttlebug spiderweb folder.  Then did a direct ink from an Archival black ink pad to highlight the web.  I cut the spider with Doodlecharms Cricut Cartridge and added googly eyes.  The letters are from Pink Paislee.

Merry Monday #38

OWH Stars & Stamps #143

I put this together using papers that were in my scraps.  The black base is from Recollections.  The black rick rack is from Creative Memories from a long time ago.  I cut the butterflies with a Martha Stewart All over the Page punch.  The butterfly bodies are Pearl Pen Ice White.  The sentiment die cut is from SU and the stamp from Hero Arts.

TTCD Challenge #40

Through the Craftroom Door Challenge #40 is Anything Goes.  I always seem to be able to complete an AG challenge with ease.  I made the card I am entering for this challenge in my weekly card class at SMS with Linda Howard.  She is a fabulous teacher and always shows us many ways to use out supplies.  For this card, we cut the leaves with a large die run through the Big Shot, then we embossed each leaf with a different embossing folder.  I like the orange leaf.  For that one, I used the Sixxix spider web folder.  I like it the best of the three.

The Outlawz 10-16 Color Challenge

For some reason, I found this color challenge really challenging.  I made this card, but I'm not totally enthusiastic about it.  Got all the colors and the twist, but . . .

For the twist I used Marci from La-La Land who has just made this yummy pie.  I colored her with Copics.  I used papers from my stash (manufacturers unknown) and ribbon also from my stash.

OWH Sketch 141

Circles for ODBD

Our Daily Bread Designs challenge for October is to use circles.  I made this card while I was taking the Stretch Your Stamps online class.  It's time to pull it out and use it.

The ribbon is from Colorbok.  The circle stamps are Paper Smooches and the sentiment is from Hero Arts.  The colored small circles were done by stamping in the larger circles with a small solid circle stamp.

The Outlawz Color Challenge 10-9-12

The twist for the challenge this week is to use something to do with travel.  I love to do road trips with my friend.  In fact we just got back from a 7-day road trip to go to my grandson's wedding in northern California.  It included a trip to the Jelly Belly Factory -  yummmmmm!  So back to the     challenge.  I thought a car would be appropriate for my travel twist.  The stamp is a 1965 Mustang from Clear Dollar Stamps.  I colored it with Copics.  The argyle paper started out in life as black and white.  A coating of Worn Lipstick Distress Ink took care of the white part.  The sentiment block is from SU and the sentiment is computer generated and popped with foam tape.

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge Week 128

Speedy Fox and Friends Challenge Week 128:  The challenge is a recipe - one ribbon, two embossing folders and three punches of die cuts.  I used one embossing folder on the background layer and the other on the sentiment tag.    The die cuts are the butterfly which would probably do for two die cuts because it is two parts.  the same goes for the sentiment tag.  I used Spellbinders scalloped oval and plain oval.  The ribbon is from SU.  I put Pearl Pen on the body of the butterfly.  I used  Elizabeth's outline stickers colored with Copic Markers for the sentiment.  On the background embosing, I rubbed SU Tempting Turquoise over it.  The card base is SU Tempting Turquoise.

Tuesday Throwdown

Berni mentioned Tuesday Throwdown to me this morning at SMS.  I thought I would check it out.  I liked what I saw so I made a Christmas card using this Bugaboo stamp.  I colored it with Copics.  The ribbon is from Michaels.  The sentiment stamp is by Katie & Co.

OWH Stars and Stamps MWT 10/3

The theme for this week at Stars and Stamps is to make "thinking of you" cards.

I followed a card I saw recently in Card Maker Magazine.  I inked the leaves with TH distress inks.  The leaves were cut with my Silhouette.  The ribbon came from a gift I received.  I never untied it, just saved it and then cut it to fit the card.  The papers are from Recollections.  I embossed the brown with a Cuttlebug folder.

Pillow Top Background - The Outlawz 10-2

I saw this technique on Gina K's Stamp TV a while back and always wanted to try it.  I wanted to come up with something different for this challenge so I finally decided to go for it.  It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.  I used her card as total inspiration.

The challenge:

The card I came up with:

I used papers from my scrap pile and ribbon from my stash.  The flourish stamp is from Autumn Leaves and the sentiment from Hero Arts.  I colored the flourish with Prismacolor pencils.  The pearls are from Want2Scrap.

Playing Catch Up Using Challenges

I am falling way behind in my cards for OWH so this week I am going to concentrate on filling up my box so it can reach the shippers before the 31st.  I want to make a lot more Christmas cards and also some general cards.  I was looking through some back issues of Card Maker Magazine and found a cute card using Washi tape in the July 2012 issue.  I had found this paper tape at Target during the summer and have not really used it.  I pulled out the red set and put the base together yesterday.   I thought I would eventually make a Christmas card with it.  This morning, I was looking through the list of challenges that I enter and came across the one for today's challenge for Speedy TV.  I had purchased some chipboard Christmas images on Saturday so I pulled them out and finished the card.  After I photographed it, I decided to add some Glossy Accents to the berries on the leaves.

Challenge: Use chipboard on your card
