Happy New Year

For this card, I merged two digi stamps from DS4J.  It was the first time I was successful in doing this technique.  I used Photoscape for this one.  I had tried to merge before using PSE 5, but it didn't work for me.  I guess it can be done, but not being very computer savvy, I couldn't do it.  I played with Photoscape and by dumb luck, happened on merging.  The two stamps are from DigiStamps4Joy online stamp store, "Sharon" and "2013" Fireworks were the two stamps I used.  I was quite pleased with myself for finally learning how to merge.

I colored the images with Crayola colored pencils.  The die cuts were from a Spellbinders die set.  I used a Copic marker to color the clear rhinestones and added a piece of ribbon from an unknown source.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Artistic Inspirations - Challenge 21 - Anything Goes
Paper Makeup Stamps - Challenge 69 - Anything Goes
Kaboodle Doodles - Challenge 152 - Anything Goes
Make it Monday - Challenge 121 - Always Anything Goes

Crazy Love

The challenge at Avadares is Valentine' or Love.  Sara once again provided us with the digi. I didn't like it at first, but it kind of grew on me.  I was not sure what to do with it.  I was looking through some of my Bo Bunny paper and found the little square with the sentiment on it.  It fit my idea perfectly and a card was born. All of the paper is Bo Bunny, the ribbon and button from my stash.  The little hearts are the negatives from an all over the page punch by Martha Stewart.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenge #43 - Center Step Card

Welcome to this challenge from Tammy's Scrapin Corner.  The challenge is to use a center step card.  At one of the craft fairs I attended recently, I bought a Spellbinders Center Step Die designed by The Stamp Doctor.  It came in handy for this challenge.

I used the Praying Fairy from Paper Makeup Stamps.  I colored the image with Spica pens.  I used a
Copic marker to make the pink frame for the image; Frosted Lace Stickles for the wings, Basic Grey dp and Glossy Accents for the cardstock flower from Anna Grifin.  I cut the pink flowers with the Silhouette Cameo and added a pearl from Want2Scrap in the centers.  The pink border was punched with a Martha Stewart punch.  The bow was in my stash.

My Top Ten for 2012

OWH has asked us once again to post our top ten cards on our blog for the year.  I always have a hard time choosing which ones I want to use, but here goes.

I cut the material flower with a Sizzix die twice for each layer and
put sookwang tape in between the two layers to give it some body.

I used my new Silhouette Cameo for this one.

The Outlawz Christmas Day Color Challenge.

Too late to really post a Christmas card, so I went in search of a sketch to use instead.  I found a sketch on Crafting by Design and thought it would work well for this challenge.

The sketch I used:

The dp is from Authentique Carefree 6x6 pack.  Cardstock is American Crafts and Recollections.  Die cuts were cut with Spellbinders.  Ribbon from Michaels.  Sentiment is a peel off sticker from Elizabeth Crafts.  It was silver and didn't stand out against the banner die, so I colored it with a red Copic marker.  The flower and brad are from my stash.  I fussy cut the black shadow for the banner.

Tammy's Scrapin Corner Challenge #42 Bingo

This is my first post as a DT for Tammy's Scrapin Corner.  This challenge was to follow a Bingo.  I chose to use the middle row: ribbon, image, pearls.  The image I used was Ava Fairy from one of our sponsors - Bugaboo Stamps.

Come join us for another great week for Tammy's Scrapin Corner, Challenge #42 - Bingo.

Supplies:

White cardstock to create card base
Bazzill Grape Jelly cardstock
Ribbon from my stash
Pearls from Want2Scrap
Copic Markers
Spellbinders dies
Glossy Accents
Crystal Stickles

Eleven Pipers Piping

The 11th day of Christmas represents the 11 faithful apostles.  The image is from The Stamping Boutique.

I colored the image with Copics and cut it with a Spellbinders die.  I added Stickles to the scarf and belt.  The snow is Stampendous Pearlized Mica Fragments.  The snowflake and rhinestone bling is from Recollections.  I stamped the background with Heartfelt Creations Herald Angels background stamp and added a little ribbon from Michaels.  I put Glossy Accents on the flute.

I've had fun coloring these snowmen.  I'm sorry to see this challenge site close.

Sandy Hook Elementary School

Digital Delights by Louby Loo provided this cute angel digi free to anybody who would make a card and send it to Sandy Hook Elementary School.  I wanted to do something and this was what I thought I could do best.  I don't know who will get the card but at least I feel I am doing something worthwhile.  My heart goes out to all those parents who lost children and the families of the teachers.  This is a difficult time of year to lose someone and a child whose whole life was ahead . . .

Anyway, I used the pre-colored image, added some Glossy Accents on the wings and Gold Stickles on the halo.  The dp and ribbon are from Stampin Up and the cardstock is from Recollections.

Quick Tags

Doris on Crafting by Designs created these quick tags and challenged us to make our own.

I made 6 of them in no time.  I think mine are smaller than Doris' as I could only get a couple small snowflakes on mine.  I wanted to save room at the bottom to write names too.  I used some old silver yarn I had left over from when I did plastic canvas to make ties for them.  I will use them on packages for Christmas.

Glory to God

I keep thinking I am done with Christmas cards and then I come upon another challenge that calls for them.  Hopefully today will be the last of Christmas cards. I made this card using the Bible passage that Word Art Wednesday had.  It was Anything Goes, but I didn't want to use red and green, but some non-traditional Christmas colors.   I used the Brush Stroke Frame Border from DS4J and added the text inside it.  I still need to learn how to merge two images.  I typed the verse in Photoshop Elememts and printed the image as a whole.  I ran VersaMark along the edge of the image piece, dipped it in Ranger Gold Tinsel and heat set it.  I learned this technique a couple weeks ago in a class and really like it.  I distressed the edges of the background dp.

Materials used:

Cardbase from Michaels 6.5 x 5
Bo Bunny DP from the Frosted Collection
Copic Sketch Markers
Pearls from Want2Scrap (colored with Copic)
Ranger Gold Tinsel

Bingo!

Catch the Bug challenge at Bugaboo Stamps has a bingo game for the December challenge.

Since I have made so many Christmas cards, I wanted to avoid the red and green square.  I chose the bottom row: pearl, Bugaboo image and sentiment.  I think this image was one of their Friday Freebies awhile back.  I've also had the sentiment in my stash from a long time back.  I had stamped a bunch of sentiments so I could just pull one out at will.  This one goes well with the fairy bear who appears to be sitting.  I colored the image with Copics and added Liquid Pearl Pewter to the nose, Stickles Star Dust to the iinner wings and Glossy Accents to the outer edge of the wings.  The pearls are from Want2Scrap.  I used some embroidery thread to tie around the background and popped the sentiment to accommodate the thickness of the thread.  All the paper except for the card base came from Echo Park 6x6 Hello Summer pad.

There's Something Magical About Christmas

Santa is going to need some magic if he is going to make it into that chimney.  DS4J challenge for this week is to make something magical about Christmas.  I chose to use Ah, There It Is image for my card.

This stamp is available in the Digital Stamps 4 Joy store.  Check it out; there are a lot of really nice digi images there.

I used my Copics to color the image.  Then I cut it out using a Spellbinders die and adhered it to a piece of Bazzill emerald green cardstock.  I used Ice White Pearl Pen for the fur on Santa's outfit; Glossy Accents on the drops of sweat; and Frosted Lace Stickles on the snow on the chimney.  When I laid it out on the dp which was adhered to a green card cardstock, I thought it was a little plain.  So, I used my Silhouette and cut the two snowflakes from a pale grey cardstock and attached them to the card.  It is too big to put in an  envelope and mail, so I will most likely just put it into a box with a gift.

A New Twist

I have done several easel cards, but I just learned about the twisted easel card.  I have seen a lot of them on various blogs recently.  So, I decided to give it a try.  I was really amazed at how easy it was.

Materials Used:

1 sheet Autumn Leaves Viceroy cardstock
Petaloo Flowers
Spellbinders Die Labels 27
ODBD verse stamp

Not a Card

The challenge for this time at Tuesday Alchemy is Anything but a Card.  I have made several altered composition books as "love" gifts.  Here is one of them.

I used dp from my stash, net ribbon from the scrapbook store and Color Me Crazy paper flowers that I sprayed with Tattered Angels.  The letters are Thickers.  I put a little piece of bling in the center of the flower.

The Outlawz Color Challenge for December 18

Teresa selected this gorgeous bird and its outstanding colors for the challenge for this week.  The twist was to add wings.  That sent me to Wikipedia to check out that penguins had wings and not fins. I found the image already colored on Dustin Pike's free digis site.  The cardstock is core-dinations and Recollections.  I added Stickles to the ice cream and Glossy Accents to the pom pom, candle flame, beak and feet.  The banner is from Spellbinders with a Kaisercraft sentiment.

It's Monday

Since Make It Monday is always Anything Goes and Mojo Monday had a simple sketch, I decided to use the challenges this week and not do a stamp.  Instead, I used the new Sizzix Thinlits Fancy Labels & Flowers.  I cut the flowers with just one of the dies.  All the paper and ribbon are Stampin' Up.  The sentiment is from my favorite sentiment set from Hero Arts.  Pearls are from Want2Scrap.

Nine Ladies Dancing

During the course of coloring these images from The Stamping Boutique by Tracey Malnofski, I learned that there is a religious definition for each day.  Nine ladies dancing refers to the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit.

I pulled a piece of snowflake dp from my stash.  I don't know the maker.  The image was colored by Copics and cut with a Spellbinder die.  The snowflakes are from Stickopotamus.  The ribbon is from Michaels.  I added some bling that I got a couple years ago to  her crown and the snowflakes.

OWH Stars & Stamps #151 and More

I used this adorable image from DS4J - Ellie's Flowers - for this card.  The sketch is from Stars & Stamps Challenge 151.  All the paper is from Stampin' Up.  The die cuts were done with Spellbinders Scalloped Circles.  I colored Ellie with Copics.  She was kind of small, but I managed to get it colored.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  Flowers are by Prima.  I colored the pearls from Want2Scrap with Copics to match the paper.

Tag, You're It

The Sweet Stop challenge for this week is: WINTER WONDERLAND (PLEASE INCLUDE AN IMAGE OR ELEMENT THAT IS WINTERY). I am using one of the tags I made in class last week using Distress Ink and Tim Holtz stamps.  The gold on the edge is done by just tapping all along the edge with VersaMark; dipping it in gold embossing powder and heating it.  The background paper is an oldie from my stash.

Noel

For this card, I stamped a piece of white cardstock with the Shabby Music Background image from JustRite.  The gold paper is from American Crafts.  The other items have been in my stash for so long, I no longer remember who did them.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Freshly Made Sketches #65

Our Daily Bread Designs - The challenge is to use the letters from Noel.  I used the Noel for the sentiment
Dynamic Duos - Use black and gold

Book Mark

Karin on the DT at DS4J made an adorable book mark for a challenge.  Since I am giving Chris a couple books for Christmas, I decided to try my hand at making one too.  I used this cute DS4J image of Pelican Pete.  I played with making it for awhile and then came up with this.

I colored the image with Copics, added Want2Scrap bling and unknown ribboon.  It was really easy once I got the right size for the image.

Baby, It's Cold Outside

The recipe for this challenge at DS4J is one image, two printed papers and three snowflakes.  I used the firelace image from DS4J and colored it with Copics.  Then I die cut it with a Spellbinders Die.  The two printed papers are from Kaisercraft Dear Santa 6x6 paper pad.  I used a piece of Inkssentials Memory Foil Tape at the seam.  The snowflakes were cut with Cherry Lynn Designs Snowflakes die.  The sentiment was cut on my Silhouette.

The Outlawz December 11 Color Challenge

This color combination gave me fits and starts.  For some reason I couldn't think of what I wanted to do.  I stared at it for several days before any kind of idea came to me.  Then I remembered I had purchased this Bo Bunny camping stamp set on the shop  hop.  I used the chipboard raccoon and stamped The rub on tree and sentiment.  I added Stickles to the tree and finished it off with twine.

Another Christmas Card

I stamped this image last Christmas and never got around to using it.  I made a few of these to send out this year.

I colored the image with Copics.  The die cuts are from Spellbinders.  The ribbon is from my stash, origin unknown.

DS4J Sunday Dec. 9 New Releases

I used the DS4J Brush Stroke Frame by Margy and colored it with gold-ish Copics, then fussy cut it leaving a small white border.  For my background, I used a Sizzix embossing folder on kraft paper.  I highlighted the raised portions with a Versamark ink pad and  clear embossing powder and heat set it.   For the edges, I again used the Versark pad and gold embossing powder.  I adhered the image to the finished background.  I didn't have a ribon that would match the green in the image.  So I took a piece of white and colored it with the Copic marker.  I added some pearls to the frame and my card was complete.

Six Geese A-Laying

The sixth in the 12 Days of Christmas snowmen and women from The Stamping Boutique represents six geese a-laying.

I wanted to go for a cold look so I used blue and lavender.  For the snow bank, I tore cardstock and then put Stickles on the torn part.  The snowflakes were cut with my new favorite die from Cherry Lynn Designs, 4 x 4 Snowflakes.  I fussy cut the image and popped in onto another identical image with foam tape.

Two Turtle Doves

This cute stamp is from The Stamping Boutique.  It is part of the 12 Days of Christmas series.

I colored this cutie with Copics.  I added pearl pen to the fur on  his cap and jacket and some bling from my stash  in the corners.  The die cuts were cut with Spellbinders.  I used Tim Holtz's distress tool on the edge of the card base.

Seven Swans A-Swimming

Paper Craft Planet is continuing the 12 days of Christmas.  Today's challenge was 7 swans a-swimming.  Again, I used Copics to color the image and cut it out using Spellbinders Labels Twenty-two.  The banner is from Spellbinders Ribbon Banners.  The snowflake is cut and embossed with Sizzix die that also embossed.  I sponged the snowflake with Stormy Sky Distress Ink and added some Baby Blue Stickles.  I added a snowflake brad from Recollections.  The sentiment is KaiserCraft.

December ODBD

For this card, I embossed a 4 x 5.25 inch piece of cardstock with the tree bark folder.  I then popped it on an A2 card base.  The flower and leaves are cut with Sizzix dies.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.  I added some rhinestone bling and a brad from my stash.

The Outlawz - 12/4

Such a beautiful Christmas picture Laurian chose for this week's challenge at The Outlawz.  Along with the twist, it is perfect for the holiday season.  I decided that my Silhouette was not doing me any good sitting on the closet shelf, so now is the time to use it.  I have not used it very much since I bought it in late summer.   I searched "bells" in the store and found this die.  So far I haven't discovered how to separate the parts of a die to not have to cut the whole thing for each part, so I cut one in each color.  I might try to see if I can make use of the extra parts even though they are in different colors for a bell.  I used cardstock from my stash and after a few false starts, finally got the bell to cut.  I embossed the white background with a Sizzix die I've had for a couple years.  The die cut of the bell is popped with foam tape.  The sentiment is from Stampendous Tis the Season set, which reflects my feelings.  I put Glossy Accents on the berries and it wasn't quite dry when I took the picture, so it looks cloudy.  It did dry clear.

I Love You

My first DT entry to the DT on DS4J.  This digi image by Jen can be found in the Digital Stamps 4 Joy store.

Since I have been hoarding my Basic Grey from a few years ago, I decided to start to use it up.  This paper is from the Bittersweet collection.  It was one of my favorites, so I have used it sparingly.  I colored the mage with Copics, cut out with Spellbinders oval and layered onto a Spellbinders scalloped oval.  The bling on the banner is from Queen and Company.  I fussy cut the banner ends.  The flower is from a set from Michaels and the butterfly center is of unknown origin.
